Yokoo Tadanori: The End of Egocurated by Yokoo Tadanori

Poster design: Yokoo Tadanori

For this exhibition, we are honored to welcome the artist Yokoo Tadanori as guest curator. This marks the first time that Yokoo has ever curated a solo exhibition of his work at a public museum.

The title of the exhibition, The End of Ego, refers to the loss incurred by clinging to one’s self. This suggests Yokoo’s incessant self-denial, as evidenced by his relentless desire to revise old paintings to create something new, boldly change his artistic style to the point where it looks like something made by a completely different person, and the consistent theme of liberating the self in his work.

For this exhibition, Yokoo selected the works and came up with the exhibition plan. We hope that you will enjoy this experiment, an ambitious undertaking for a museum bearing the name of a currently active artist.
